North & South America
South America contains a rich variety of histories and cultures that provide a unique context for each country's economic and legal system in the region. Given the continent's geographic and biological diversity as well, South America is an important trading partner to many countries of the world for numerous minerals, crops, and livestock. The countries of South America have also entered into regional agreements with institutions such as the Andean Community, Mercosur, and Unasur. All of these characteristics touch upon numerous areas of law including international trade, indigenous rights, environmental law, human rights, and criminal law. AUWCL provides a semester exchange opportunity in Brazil, and is actively forging new relationships with other countries to develop the student’s skills and abilities to participate in South America as an international lawyer.
