Study law in one of our ABA-approved summer abroad programs and earn up to six law school credits! Open to students from any ABA-accredited law school, our summer abroad programs provide an interdisciplinary “crash course” on international and transnational issues. Participants will learn from international law experts, network with practitioners abroad, visit international legal and government sites, and gain a well-informed new perspective on international law and global issues.
 
Summer in Europe Program: London, Brussels, & Geneva
The Summer in Europe Program courses provide students with the unique opportunity to add an international perspective on their legal studies, develop a solid foundation in areas of global importance, and build professional networks. Students can choose one of the program's two-week courses, with the option of combining up to two for a broader, more comprehensive summer abroad experience:
 
  • Geneva: International Rule-Making & Dispute Settlement: WTO & WIPO (3 credits)
  • London & Brussels: Transnational Business & EU Regulatory Law (3 credits)
  • Geneva: International Human Rights & Humanitarian Law: Practical Challenges (3 credits)

Summer Law Program in The Hague
The Summer Law Program in The Hague – offered by the AUWCL War Crimes Research Office (WCRO) in collaboration with the T.M.C. Asser Institute, one of the most prominent institutes of international law in Europe – gives participants an opportunity to study some of the most important legal issues of today in the heart of the international justice community. The program's courses include International Criminal Law and International Legal Approaches to Terrorism, with site visits to the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and the UN Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals.
 
Non-Credit Seeking Applicants
AUWCL's summer abroad law programs offer a Certificate of Completion option for legal practitioners from the U.S. and around the world, as well as for students attending law school outside of the U.S. The Certificate of Completion option allows students to participate in all aspects of the summer abroad program; however, they are NOT eligible for financial aid. See the "Non-Credit Participant" section in each program for more information. Please email wclabroad@wcl.amerian.edu if this is the option you wish to pursue.
