The Summer Law Program in Israel explores the unique and complex legal issues in the region. American University Washington College of Law is committed to providing a safe and fascinating experience for our students in a dynamic area of the world. Re-established in 2010, the program takes place in the major cities of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem and includes numerous site visits in addition to classroom discussions.
Participants will learn the local intricacies of legal topics on human and civil rights issues through one course and legal issues involving business, IP, and trade in the other course. There really is something for everyone. All courses are taught by leading experts from premiere Israeli and Palestinian universities, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations, as well as by American University Washington College of Law faculty.
The program is open to AU WCL and Non-WCL students. WCL aims to take smaller groups of 10-20 students to take full advantage of certain tours and site visits. In the last program, 50% of the students were from other law schools around the country. Non-WCL participants will need a letter of good standing and a letter granting them permission to visit from their home law school.
