The Faculty of Law in Oslo is the oldest and largest educational and research institution within the field of law in Norway. The Faculty consists of six Departments/Centres in addition to the administration, with an elected Dean as head of the organization. In addition to the traditional fields of study within law, researchers also explore varied aspects of law - such as Environmental Law, eCommerce, Human Rights Law, and Maritime Law. In addition the faculty holds a Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and The Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law (this institute is divided in two departments: Department of Maritime Law, and Department of Petroleum and Energy law).

Language of Instruction:
The official language of study is Norwegian. However, many courses within the faculty of law are taught in English.
Courses:
Students will receive up to 12 credits towards their law degree. Only the credits and not the grades will transfer per ABA requirements. The acceptance of any credit or grade for any courses taken at the University of Oslo including externships and other clinical offerings is subject to determination by the WCL, Office of the Registrar. WCL students will be enrolled in regularly scheduled courses conducted in English alongside fellow Oslo and exchange program students.The following list is an example of the types of courses offered in English. A more complete list of courses offered to exchange students in English is available, though courses are subject to change.
