UN CAT Project Presentation

Event Date: 02/10/2016

The United Nations Committee against Torture (UN CAT) Project is a one-of-a-kind experiential learning opportunity with a specialized seminar on the prohibition of torture under international law and a unique field component: attending one week of the Committee's session in Geneva. The UN CAT Project participants will discuss the Project and the upcoming spring application process and deadline.

Summer Externship at the ICC in the Hague

Event Date: 02/15/2016

The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute, is the first permanent, treaty based, international criminal court established to help end impunity for the perpetrators of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community. They are currently seeking externs to work with the court in the Hague, Netherlands for summer 2016. The deadline is February 15, apply on CareerLink.

Business Law Review 2016 Symposium

Event Date: 02/19/2016

Based on the increased demand to commercialize emerging technologies such as Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or "smart" vehicles, equipped with vehicle to vehicle (V2V) or vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) technologies, the Symposium will focus on the development of these technologies and what challenges they face in an uncharted legal territory.

American Red Cross Clara Barton Legal Fellowship

The Red Cross is looking for a Clara Barton Legal Fellow to work with the international humanitarian law (IHL) team to support its legal education program on IHL. The fellow will work as part of a small team where he/she will gain hands on experience conducting legal research and writing, providing thorough legal analysis on relevant IHL issues, and working to support and strengthen the team's IHL education programs. Application deadline is March 1, 2016.

Semester Exchange Program Deadline Approaching

The need for international lawyers is on the rise and so are international legal jobs. The American University Washington College of Law provides students with unique educational opportunities and offers legal semester exchange programs in 22 countries, spanning 6 continents. These programs offer students a global perspective of the legal profession. Students are immersed in different cultures and the programs allow students to develop the language skills required to be effective lawyers at home and abroad. Students learn about the law as well as how to interact with global and transnational actors.
The law school's semester exchange programs also lets students focus on different areas of law such as Arbitration, Business, Intellectual Property, Human Rights, International Trade, European Union Law, Environmental Law, and Maritime Law.

Summer Abroad Program Approaching Deadline

Study law in one of our ABA approved summer programs (Europe, Turkey, Chile/Argentina, The Hague, and Geneva) and earn up to six law school credits. Open to students from any law school, our abroad programs provide an interdisciplinary "crash course" of international and transnational issues. Choose to participate in any of our 5 programs below to learn from local faculty, network with local practioners, visit local establishments and gain a new perspective on the law and legal system.
