Specific Scholarships of Interest to AUWCL Study Abroad Participants

American University Initiative for Russian Culture (AUIRC) Summer Stipends: student stipend to defray the cost of summer study and/or research in Russia. Stipends are approximately $4000 per student

Boren Fellowship: provides up to $30,000 to U.S. graduate students to add an important international and language component to their graduate education.

Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships: offers
support to non-Australians to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia. Scholarship recipients receive a travel allowance, monthly stipend, health insurance, and travel insurance.

Fullbright: Many scholarships with various requirements. For the 2013-14 application cycle, law students are especially encouraged to apply for Fulbright grants in Bolivia, Canada, Chad, Croatia, Guatemala, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Senegal, UK, and Venezuela.

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship: Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars between the ages of 18 and 30 are chosen annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

German Chancellor Fellowship: targeted at university graduates from the United States, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, Brazil and India who have an international outlook and initial leadership experience. The fellowship grant amounts to 2,150 EUR, 2,450 EUR or 2,750 EUR per month, depending on the applicant’s qualifications. The fellowship also includes a mobility allowance as well as a contribution to health and liability insurance. Application Deadline is September 15, 2014.

Global Studies Foundation: provides supplemental funds for American students studying abroad.

International & Interdisciplinary PhD Programme: is an international doctoral programme focused on questions related to “Globalisation, Europe and Multilateralism” covering most disciplines within Social Sciences. It offers an integrated research and training environment set up by 9 leading global universities. Applications are due by December 20, 2013.

James Symington Award for the Study of Russian Language, Culture, and International Relations: provides $10,000 for tuition and travel expenses to attend the 2014 interdisciplinary summer program in Russian language, culture, and international relations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University).

Law Fellowships in Legal Empowerment: Namati, a leading organization dedicated to legal empowerment is seeking current law students or recent graduates for legal fellowships around the world. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest and passion for social justice, rule of law, human rights and/or development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program: is a distinguished transatlantic initiative that offers fifteen accomplished Americans the opportunity to complete a comprehensive professional development program in Germany. Application are due November 1, 2013.

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships: provides a flat grant of $25,000 for one academic year of study in another country.

Student Mobility Program (Canada): travel grants for students participating in study abroad programs in Canada

The Supreme Court Fellows Program:
the Supreme Court Fellows Commission selects four talented individuals to engage for one year in the work of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, the Federal Judicial Center, or the United States Sentencing Commission. Applications are due by November 15, 2013.

Turkish Coalition of America: provides scholarships for summer or semester study in Turkey.

Tinker Field Research Grants: covers travel expenses for two week to four month periods of investigation in Latin America.
